Hugging Face’s NEW Reachy Mini Robot – Open-Source AI You Can Build at Home!

Hugging Face’s NEW Reachy Mini Robot – Open-Source AI You Can Build at Home!

Say hello to Reachy Mini — the newest open-source robot from Hugging Face and Pollen Robotics. Standing just 11 inches tall and weighing only 1.5 kilos, it’s compact, expressive, and ready to bring AI to life… literally.

After acquiring Pollen Robotics in April 2025, Hugging Face set out to combine their powerful AI tools with real-world robotics. Reachy Mini is the first result — designed for enthusiasts, educators, and researchers who want to explore human-robot interaction, creative coding, and embodied AI.

It features a motorized head and torso, expressive antennas, and built-in camera, mics, and speakers — giving it full audio-visual sensing capabilities. In other words, it’s small, but smart.

Reachy Mini comes in two versions, both as DIY kits — so yes, you’ll build it yourself, but don’t worry, it’s more rewarding than frustrating. At launch, it’ll support over 15 robot behaviors and is fully programmable in Python, with JavaScript and Scratch on the way.

Thanks to Hugging Face integration, you can tap into state-of-the-art open-source models for speech, vision, and personality — making this one of the most accessible AI platforms on the market.

The Lite version ships late summer 2025, and the more powerful Compute version follows in batches through 2026.

China Unveils World’s First Cyborg Bee – Game-Changing Tech for Rescue & Recon Missions!

Chinese scientists have just unveiled the world’s first cyborg bee — and yes, it’s exactly as fascinating as it sounds.

At just 74 milligrams, the brain controller developed by Professor Zhao Jieliang’s team at the Beijing Institute of Technology is lighter than the nectar bees normally carry. It’s strapped onto the bee’s back and uses tiny needles to stimulate its brain with electrical pulses — guiding it left, right, forward, or back.

In tests, the bees followed commands 90% of the time — a level of obedience most drones, and maybe even colleagues, would envy.

Why turn bees into remote-controlled fliers? The potential is huge — from searching disaster zones for survivors to stealth reconnaissance in military or counterterrorism operations. With natural camouflage and incredible endurance, these insect-based robots outperform synthetic alternatives in agility and stealth.

There are still hurdles — bees still need a power source, and precision across species varies — but it’s clear: the future of robotics might just have wings and a stinger.

  • AI Robot Performs Surgery with Almost No Human Help – The Future of Medicine?

AI Robot Performs Surgery with Almost No Human Help – The Future of Medicine?

AI Robot Performs Surgery with Almost No Human Help – The Future of Medicine?

Surgical robots just took a major step toward full autonomy – and no, this isn’t science fiction.

In a world-first, an AI-powered robot successfully removed a gall bladder from a dead pig with minimal human input. The system was trained on 17 hours of real surgical footage, learning from 16,000 human hand movements.

The robot runs on a two-layer AI system. The first layer watches the surgery through an endoscope and gives simple instructions like “clip the second duct.” The second layer translates that into precise 3D tool movements.

It performed the 17-step surgery eight times – and nailed every task. Impressive, considering some robots still struggle with vacuuming straight lines.

That said, it wasn’t totally hands-free. The robot did need a human to swap one tool and had to self-correct about six times per procedure – but it spotted its own errors and fixed them.

Researchers say the next goal is autonomous surgery on live animals – where things get trickier with breathing and bleeding involved.

Still, it’s a glimpse of what’s coming: safer, smarter, and more consistent surgery – powered by AI.

Dyson’s Giant Robot Farm – How They’re Revolutionising Strawberry Farming in the UK!

Dyson’s Giant Robot Farm – How They’re Revolutionising Strawberry Farming in the UK!

When you hear “Dyson,” you probably think vacuum cleaners and air purifiers — not strawberries. But at their high-tech glasshouse in Lincolnshire, Dyson is bringing innovation to farming.

At the heart of their operation are giant rotating wheels — 24 metres long and 5 metres tall — supporting rows of strawberry plants. As the wheels turn, each plant gets optimal sunlight, helping Dyson grow more strawberries in less space.

To keep the plants healthy, robots patrol the glasshouse. UV bots shine light to kill mold, while others release beneficial insects that act as natural pest control. It’s a high-tech way to cut down on chemicals and protect the environment.

When the fruit’s ripe, robotic arms delicately pick each strawberry — no squashing involved. The facility is powered by an anaerobic digester, rainwater collection, and mostly natural sunlight, making it impressively sustainable.

The result? Around 1,250 tonnes of strawberries a year — all thanks to a clever mix of robotics, renewable energy, and a bit of Dyson magic.

  • New Robotic Skin Lets Robots Feel Pain — A Major Leap in AI Sensory Tech!

New Robotic Skin Lets Robots Feel Pain — A Major Leap in AI Sensory Tech!

New Robotic Skin Lets Robots Feel PainA Major Leap in AI Sensory Tech!

Scientists have developed a new type of electronic skin that could help robots feel — from a gentle touch to a sharp slice.

Made from a soft, gelatin-based, electrically conductive material, this skin can be molded into shapes — like a human hand — and equipped with electrodes to detect signals from over 860,000 pathways. That allows it to recognize different sensations like pressure, temperature, and even damage.

To test it, researchers put the synthetic skin through its paces: heating it, poking it, and yes — cutting it open. All very scientific, but not exactly gentle.

They collected over 1.7 million pieces of data and used it to train a machine learning model that could help robots identify the type and intensity of touch they’re experiencing.

Unlike traditional systems, which need different sensors for each sensation, this skin uses a single “multi-modal” sensor — making it simpler, tougher, and more cost-effective. Ideal for humanoid robots, prosthetics, and even disaster response tech.

As UCL’s Dr. Thomas George Thuruthel puts it: it’s not quite human skin yet, but it’s the most capable robotic skin developed so far — and it’s getting smarter with every poke.

This Robot Prints Building Plans On-Site with Laser Precision – Dusty Robotics FieldPrinter 2

The construction industry is under pressure — rising costs, labour shortages, and the demand for speed and precision. But Dusty Robotics is helping bring building sites into the 21st century.

Introducing the FieldPrinter 2, an autonomous robot that prints digital building plans directly onto construction floors — with an accuracy of just 1/16th of an inch. No more guessing with chalk lines and tape measures.

At the heart of this robot’s smooth performance? PMD’s motion controllers. Their ION/CME N-series drives power the front wheels, helping FieldPrinter 2 stay on track — even when the laser tracker loses sight. The robot relies on smart sensors, gyros, and encoders to keep printing accurately, even in blind spots.

The previous motion system had its limits, but PMD’s drives offered better control, faster response, and easier debugging — a big win for Dusty’s engineering team.

From scorching heat to freezing cold, the FieldPrinter 2 is built to work in the real-world messiness of construction. And thanks to PMD, it keeps moving, printing, and performing — wherever the job takes it.

World’s First Commercial Tattoo Robot – Blackdot AERO Tested & Explained!

Say hello to the future of body art—Blackdot’s tattoo robot, known as AERO: Artist Enabled Robotic Operator. It’s currently making waves at Bang Bang Tattoo in New York, and no, it’s not replacing artists—it’s helping them.

Using advanced computer vision and AI, AERO scans your skin and tattoos with pin-sharp precision, dot by dot, with each dot the width of a human hair. That means super-crisp lines, consistent shading, and less trauma to the skin. Think of it as a super-steady hand that never drinks too much coffee.

Tattoo artists still design the piece and oversee the work, but the robot handles the application, ensuring smoother, safer, and potentially quicker results—especially for text and fine-line work.

Cost-wise? Right now, these machines cost around $120,000 to build, though mass production could bring that down to $50,000. Not exactly cheap, but neither is laser removal.

And while a few experimental tattoo robots have popped up before, Blackdot’s AERO is the first to be used commercially with real customers—and real skin.

So if you want your ink applied with machine-level precision and human-level creativity, the robot chair might just be your next seat.

Meet Nurabot – Kawasaki & Foxconn’s Robot Nurse Set to Revolutionize Hospitals by 2026!

Kawasaki and Foxconn have teamed up to tackle a big problem in hospitals — not with more staff, but with smarter machines. Introducing Nurabot, a robotic nursing assistant set to roll out in 2026.

Based on Kawasaki’s existing social robot, Nyokkey, Nurabot comes with two arms for grabbing objects, a luggage compartment, and the ability to navigate hospital hallways on its own — no pushing required.

It’s designed to support nurses with tasks like transporting blood samples, delivering medications, guiding patients, and even offering hygiene advice. Yes, your next handwashing reminder could come from a robot!

Foxconn brought its software know-how, while Kawasaki handled the robotics — and early trials have already taken place at Taiwan’s Taichung Veterans General Hospital.

With nurse shortages becoming a global concern, Foxconn and Kawasaki hope Nurabot can ease the load — and maybe make long shifts a little more manageable for human staff.

Because sometimes, the best way to support healthcare workers… is to give them a helping hand. Or in this case, two robotic ones.

Mind-Controlled Robotic Hand Breakthrough – Real-Time Finger Movement with No Surgery!

Robotic hands controlled by thought alone? It sounds like science fiction, but researchers at Carnegie Mellon University are making it a reality—no brain surgery required.

Professor Bin He has spent over 20 years developing noninvasive brain-computer interfaces using EEG technology. And his team just hit a major milestone: real-time control of individual robotic fingers, simply by thinking about them.

While previous systems required risky implants, this one reads brain signals from the scalp—no drills, just a headset. Participants were able to perform two- and three-finger movements, thanks to a smart deep-learning system trained to decode these intentions in real time.

The goal? To make BCI systems useful in daily life—for everything from assistive tools to, one day, even typing.

As Professor He puts it, improving hand function can dramatically boost quality of life—and this breakthrough moves us a step closer to helping many more people, no surgery required.
