Drones Begin Building – The Future of Construction

Construction is taking to the skies — literally.

For the first time, flying construction robots are being tested in site-like conditions. It’s part of new research led by Imperial College London and the University of Bristol, exploring how drones could change the way we build.

The idea? Aerial Additive Manufacturing — or Aerial AM — where drones deposit building materials mid-air. Imagine them 3D-printing structures at height, no scaffolding required.

These tests are happening at DroneHub in Switzerland, a dedicated space for seeing how flying robots perform outside the lab.

Of course, we’re still early days. Dr. Kocer from the University of Bristol says challenges like material strength, outdoor navigation, and team coordination need solving. But early demos have shown promise — with on-demand repairs and modular assembly already in action.

The future of construction might not just be bigger — it might be lighter, faster, and a little bit airborne.

Extend Robotics – Bringing VR-Controlled Robots to Truck Assembly

Imagine building powerful trucks with a robot… controlled by a mechanic wearing a VR headset. It might sound futuristic — but it’s already happening.

Extend Robotics recently completed a successful trial at Leyland Trucks’ factory in Preston. Using virtual reality, operators could control humanoid robots in real time, tackling high-risk tasks like installing high-voltage components — without ever suiting up in protective gear.

These tasks normally take time and come with safety risks. But with VR teleoperation, they were done smoothly — and safely — in just a few minutes.

Even first-timers were surprised at how intuitive it felt. “It’s like your hand is that hand,” one said. No training montage required.

Extend Robotics also demoed AI systems that can learn from experienced staff — showing promise for future automation and safety improvements.

From hands-on to hands-free, Leyland and Extend Robotics are driving the future of manufacturing — one robot at a time.

“Extend Robotics – Safer. Smarter. Seamless.”

Yarbo Raises $27M – Transforming Yard Work with Robots

Robots could be coming to a backyard near you—on purpose this time. Yarbo has just closed its Series B funding round, raising $27 million to grow its outdoor robotics empire.

What started in 2015 as “Snowbot” — a clever fix for dreaded snow shoveling — has evolved into Yarbo, a modular yard robot tackling everything from mowing to blowing, trimming, and more. One robot, many jobs — no sore backs.

This fresh funding means bigger production, smarter tech, and a much faster pace. Yarbo’s aiming to quadruple sales in 2025, with expansions across North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia.

They’ve just launched a new Trimmer Module for those hard-to-reach spots, with plans for future add-ons like spraying, garbage bin moving, and even fruit picking. Yes, your robot might soon fetch your apples too.

With “Follow Me” mode, tool-free swapping, and serious pulling power, Yarbo wants to turn your seasonal chores into automated ease.

The future of yard work? It’s modular—and a little more relaxing.
