Hi Guys and welcome, I am Philip English from Robophil.com. Now on this video we are doing a quick Interview with Matthias Schmitt from Still Human Robotics. We managed to speak to Matthias at the Innorobo 2015 Robot Exhibition in France, Lyon.Â
Still Human is a French robotics startup that want to reinvent robotics using industrial design methodology. They create robots to improve our world. Their first project the Vegetal Cyborg improves plants with robotic components and thus create a new species of autonomous and smart plants.
Philip: Hi guys! Philip English. So here today with Matthias Schmitt and he’s going to give us a quick overview of the robot. So if you can speak about the robot?
Matthias: Okay. The idea of this robot is to give us autonomous plants. For example, we want to give the capacity to plant to go outside to find water or find UV light, solar light, to give a total capacity to plant, we want to give every people the capacity to keep that plant safe or simply plant into our house.
Philip: So the idea is you have your plant but then it may not be in a light part of house and these have the ability to move around the house, move around the area to get the sun it actually needs. Okay. How long that it lasts for? The battery.
Matthias: For a moment, we draft 10 hour for example but we want to give the capacity for solar energy because we want to create a robot autonomous, we have solar, water of course. The plant can drink all the time.
Philip: So how will it get water? Will it go into a tap and turn the tap on?
Matthias: We want to give the capacity to keep water into the robot, we want to give internet connection so the robot can find rain, if its raining the robot will go outside, soon we can keep this robot really smart because its a free robot, it can decide to go outside when he wants.
Philip: So as you saying a smart robot, sorry, a smart plant really that can go anywhere, can go outside when he wants, come inside when he wants to give him a best chance of living. Okay. So this is a French robot and its made in France?
Matthias: Yes. It is made in France because we are a French starter. We are in Paris. We want to create a French robot. We want a French capacity, we want a French factory for example.
Philip: I see. So will it be available like across Europe? In the UK, soon? or?
Matthias: For a moment, we don’t know because it s our first prototype, we just want to have a good robot. After that I can imagine all the world can use this.
Philip: Yeah! I mean, this is a brilliant idea, I mean you know, even from a style point of view, it will be a quite cool to have one of this in your house, you know, going around, it is a very stylish, very cool looking robot. Yeah! I quite like it. Yeah! Yeah! So, what sort of retail price that you are looking at?
Matthias: Currently, we want a 300.
Philip: Okay. That’s a great overview. Thank you very much!
Matthias: Thank you!
Brilliant Thanks Guys, I hope you enjoyed the interview and I want to say a big thank you to Matthias from Still Human Robotics for his time and  the interview.
